People love to talk about how much we should be spending on infrastructure, but no one wants to talk about how we can change our society to demand less of that infrastructure. If thousands of cars don’t have to cross that bridge to get to an unnecessary office every day, that bridge will absolutely last longer, and furthermore that bridge may not need to be there in the first place.
I remember the beginning of lockdown when nature breathed a sigh of relief. All the humans stayed home, and the animals felt free to live their lives for a change.
